Our baseball and softball programs are designed to teach kids the fundamentals of the game. We begin with tee ball working on repetitive instruction in propoer fielding, throwing and batting techniques. Kids learn the proper way to do these tasks while also learning the basic rules of the game.
From there, they move to coach pitch leagues. Coach pitch baseball and softball take kids to the next level of their development by teaching them more about the game play and rules. From these leagues, players learn more advanced fielding and batting, as well as fine-tuning the skills needed to play at new levels.
The final level of play is our machine pitch leagues. Wentworth has had a machine-pitch baseball league for years and has seen it grow to a very competitive and exciting league. A fast-pitch girl's softball league was added this season to give players a better chance to compete at the middle and high school level. Both are played exactly like real baseball and softball, with players controlling all of the action. The only difference is a machine pitches rather than a player.
The Wentworth Ball Program strives to teach kids the game of baseball and softball in a friendly, fun atmosphere. We do not emphasize winning, rather good sportsmanship and fair play. Competition in the machine-pitch leagues is recognized as a vital part of the game, but we attempt to teach players the right way to be competitive. |
